The galant Scorpions have made it to the next and final round of the AFCON 2023 qualifiers after wining Chad 3-2 on aggregate.
Gambia won the first leg at the Ahamadou Ahidjo Stadium in Cameroon, courtesy of a solitary goal by Babucarr Steve Trawally on the 89th minute of the match.
Even though the Gambian team was the better side on the day, it struggled to break the jinx.
On Tuesday 29th March, 2022, the Scorpions played host to their Chadian counterparts in Morocco. The encounter which was dubbed make or break for both countries, witnessed the display of skill, endurance and perseverance. It ended 2-2 at the stroke of regulation time with goal poacher, Assan Ceesay on the scoresheet for The Gambia.
With the result of the match played in Morocco, The Gambia has now booked her ticket to the group stages of the qualifiers for AFCON 2023 to be played in Ivory Coast.
