The Executive Director of the National Sport Council, Marchel Mendy, today presided over the presentation of wheelchairs and crutches donated to the Gambia National Paralympic Committee (GNPC) by two philanthropists and a partner organization to support Paralympic in The Gambia.
These wheelchairs are meant for wheelchair lawn tennis and the crutches were presented the Gambia Amputee Football Team.
Speaking at the event, Mr Mendy thanked the donors for the gesture, adding that it will go a long way in helping the Gambia in her quest to send more athletes to global stage. He also congratulated the Association for the steadfastness and commitment.
Mr. Mendy went on to use the opportunity advice all National Sport Associations/Federations/ Committees to ensure that they operate at all times in accordance with their constitutions.
“Sport is meant to unite people. Therefore, no one should try to use sport to cause trouble or disturbances. Ensure that all procedures leading to your congresses are inline with your constitutions and rules”, Mendy stated.
