The Gambia male beach volleyball team has qualified to the XXII Commonwealth Games beach volleyball which will take place in Birmingham, United Kingdom, later this year.
In what was referred to as a stunning performance by the Gambian team, the Gambian players managed to win her matches, beating the host Ghana, 2-1 before meeting South Africa in the final.
Knowing what was at stake in the finals, Sainey Jawo and Mbaye Babou Jarra put up their best performance to be able to defeat their opponents represent The 2-0 in order to qualify to the much talked about Birmingham Games.
The Gambian team will rob shoulders with the likes oof the host nation, England, Canada, Australia and New Zealand who have since qualified for the showpiece.
In view of this indelible achievement, the National Sport Council governing Council, members of staff and the entire sport fraternity, take the opportunity to congratulate the Gambia Volleyball Association but more so, the national beach volleyball teams for their splendid performances at the just ended qualifiers for the Commonwealth Games.
The male team’s triumph at the said competition didn’t surprise any follower of volleyball and it’s development in The Gambia.
