Team Gambia Set for Glory at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh

Sixteen Gambian athletes across five sporting disciplines are ready to raise The Gambia’s flag high at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, taking place from November 7 to 21, 2025, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Team Gambia will compete in Swimming, Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, and Athletics (Track and Field), showcasing the nation’s growing strength in diverse sporting fields.

Swimming

Representing The Gambia in the pool are Ousman Jobe and Pap D. Jonga, who will compete in the men’s 50m butterfly and freestyle on November 8, and the 100m freestyle and butterfly on November 10 at the Olympic Complex Swimming Pool.

Judo

Gambia’s judo stars Faye Njie and Abdourahman Ceesay will hit the mats at the Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Stadium Hall.

• Njie, competing in the -73kg category, will take part in the preliminaries on November 8 (9am local time), followed by the final block later that evening at 17hr.

• Ceesay will contest the -100kg category preliminaries and final block on November 9.

Karate

In Karate, Emmanuel Mendy will fly The Gambia’s colors in the -75kg elimination and repechage rounds at the Malaz Combat Hall on November 11 (13hr local time).

Taekwondo

Gambian Taekwondo champion Maria Sainabou Marchlinski will compete in the Women’s under-57kg Round of 16 on November 15 (9am local time) at the Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Stadium Hall.

Athletics – Track and Field

The Gambia’s track athletes are set to make their mark at the Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Stadium.

• Ansu Badjie and Ebrima Camara will race in the Men’s 100m qualification and semifinals on November 17, with the finals scheduled for 22:50 local time.
• Nyimasata Jawneh and Isatou Sey will represent the country in the Women’s 100m events, including the qualification, semifinals, and finals on November 18.
• Adama Jammeh and Alieu Joof will compete in the Men’s 200m, with rounds on November 18 and 19.
• In the Women’s 200m, Isatou Sey and Jalinka Bajinka will run between November 19 and 20.
• Serreh Sanneh will represent The Gambia in the Women’s Long Jump Finals on November 19 (18:05 local time).
• The Women’s 4x100m Relay Team will compete on November 19 for both qualification (12:10 local time) and finals (22:40 local time).
