Gambia’s track queen Gina Bass and new King of the tracks, Ebrima Camara will be flying The Gambian colors at the World Athletics Championship to be held in Oregon, USA.
The duo who bagged their qualification to the World Games earlier this year, following their stunning performances at the Africa Senior Athletics championship are on their way to World Games to be held from the 15th to 28 July 2022.
Gina will participate in the 100m after winning the gold medal in Mauritius with a timing of 11.06 seconds. Her new time stands as the national record for The Gambia but also her personal best. This will be Gina’s second appearance at the Games, following her Doha 2019 exploits in which she and finished 6th in the 200m finals. With this experience and her recent performance at the African Championship, it is hoped that she will do well at the Oregon.
Ebrima will also participate in 100m at the Games after breaking both the national record and his personal best with a timing of 10.13 secs in Mauritius. Ebrima, the new King of Gambian sprints was at the Olympics in Tokyo. It is believed that his engagements in earlier but similar competitions will raise his confidence going into the Oregon Games.
