MOYS Through NSC to Send D7.5M on Commonwealth and Islamic Games

The Gambia will participate at the Birmingham and Islamic Games which will commence from 28th July to 8th August and 9th to 18th August 2022 respectively. The Ministry of Youth and Sport in fulfillment of its commitment to youth and sport development, will through the National Sport Council, fund 75% of the total budget for the said games equivalent to seven million, five hundred thousand dalasi (D7,500,000.00).

At the Commonwealth Games, the Gambia will be represented by twenty-one athletes. They will take part in athletics; swimming; judo; boxing; beach volleyball; para-power lifting and wheel chair basketball 3×3, while twenty-nine athletes will raise the Gambian flag at the Islamic Games in athletics; swimming; taekwondo; judo; basketball 3×3; para-athletics; and para-table tennis.
