Team Gambia Shines with Three Medals at ANOCA African Youth Games Angola 2025

Team Gambia continues to make the nation proud at the ongoing ANOCA African Youth Games in Angola, adding three medals to its tally in an impressive display of youth talent, determination, and national pride.

Teenage sprinter Adama Njie announced herself on the continental stage by winning bronze in the girls’ 200m, clocking an outstanding 26.1 seconds. Competing at her first international championship, Njie delivered a fearless performance that earned her a place on the podium and marked her as one of The Gambia’s most promising future sprinters. She was later officially decorated with her bronze medal, a proud moment for both athlete and country.

On the sand courts, the Gambia boys’ beach volleyball team capped a remarkable campaign with a silver medal, finishing runners-up after a 2–0 defeat to Sierra Leone in the gold medal match (22–20, 21–14). The Gambian side entered the final unbeaten and showed great resilience throughout the tournament. This silver marks a significant step forward for the team, improving on their bronze medal from 2018 and representing their fourth podium finish in 2025.
