Banjul, The Gambia – 11 June 2026
The Serrekunda West Sports Organization (SWESO) on Thursday formally submitted its report on the utilization of the first phase of funding allocated to the organization to the National Sports Council (NSC), under the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The report, dated 7th June 2026, provides a comprehensive account of how the initial disbursement was utilized to support sports development activities within the Serrekunda West community. It highlights key interventions undertaken at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium and outlines progress made in promoting grassroots sports, improving facilities, and strengthening organizational capacity.
Receiving the report at the National Sports Council, officials commended SWESO for its commitment to accountability, transparency, and effective use of public resources. The submission marks an important step in ensuring compliance with funding guidelines and reinforces the Council’s emphasis on results-based sports development.
The National Sports Council uses this opportunity to strongly urge all sports organizations and beneficiaries of the first phase of funding to emulate SWESO by submitting their utilization reports promptly. Timely submission of these reports is a key requirement for eligibility to access the second phase of fund disbursement.
Organizations that fail to meet reporting obligations risk delays or exclusion from subsequent funding cycles, as the Council continues to uphold strict accountability standards in the management of public funds.
The NSC remains committed to supporting sports development across The Gambia and calls on all stakeholders to demonstrate responsibility, transparency, and dedication in advancing the national sports agenda.
