The National Youth and Sport summer camp, organized by the National Youth and Sport Councils just ended at the Gambia Shanghai Initiative, North Bank Region.
The annual camp which was attended by about one hundred young people was punctuated by a host of activities among them, a conducted tour of the Chamen premises; the Senegambia bridge; debate competition; miming competition; sport activities and some interactive discussions.
Speaking at the closing ceremony held earlier this evening, the Executive Director of the National Sport Council, Marchel Mendy who deputized for the Minister of Youth and Sport, Hon. Bakary Yaya Badjie, commended the campers for their cooperation during the camp.
Furthermore, Mr. Mendy urged them to remain disciplined at all times and to take their education very seriously.
While declaring the camp closed, Mr. Mendy commended the management of GSI for successfully hosting the camp. “We can’t thank the management of GSI enough. You have been an awesome host. Your support and collaboration exceeded our expectations”, said Mr. Mendy.
Other speakers at the closing ceremony included Mrs. Mberry Jobe, Deputy Executive Director of the NYC and Mr. Mbye Saine, Coordinator of GSI.
