The Deputy Executive Director of the National Sport Council, Mr. Mahmoud Lamin Jawla is currently in Accra, Ghana, attending the Chefs De Mission meeting for the forthcoming African Games from 2nd to 4th October 2023. This meeting will give delegates firsthand information regarding the games and state of preparedness for the forthcoming games.
An initiative of the African Union, the African Games 2023, which initially faced delays, are now confirmed for March 2024 with the official opening of the Games Village scheduled on 1st March 2024, with athletes and officials arriving from 05th to 07th March.
The Games opening ceremony will take place on 8th March 2024 and will officially close on 23th March 2024. The 13th Edition of the African Games will bring together, more than four thousand athletes, competing in various sport codes.
